Our Designer Lisa Reilly Polunin is the President and CEO of Eccentricities.
Originally from the Tampa area, Ms. Polunin started dancing at 3 years old. She was an assistant to Dance Masters Convention Teachers and traveled as a young teenager, dancing in commercials, shows, and modeling through Bravo Talent Agency. During this time, she also took classes in New York and Chicago during her summer holiday with teachers such as Luigi and Lou Conte, and at Steps 74 in NYC.
Ms. Polunin has been a working professional since leaving the University of Florida where she studied Costume Design and Modern Dance. She was the lead dancer for Disney World’s Splashtacular show, and also traveled the country for Disney’s Winter Wonderland shows.
Once in the Atlanta Area, Ms. Polunin danced with companies including The Phoenix Project with Kris Cangelosi, and worked consistently with production companies across the state. She was a featured dancer in the 1996 Summer Olympic Opening and Closing ceremonies and also for an international Double Cola commercial.
Ms. Polunin has always been interested in many different forms of dance including Belly dance, Salsa, and Ballroom dance. In 1998, she took a break from dancing with the Phoenix Project to study International Ballroom Dance. Within two years, Ms. Polunin became the top female in the United States by winning the Ohio Star Ball in International Latin Dance. She then took a different partner and started studying with world class coaches such as Louis VanAmstel and Victor Kanevski. She and her partner, Bagrat, were world-ranked and competed for the next three years together. Ms. Polunin retired from competitive dancing in 2003, and has come back to her roots.
She is currently working as a choreographer for figure skaters and dancers, a guest teacher, and a judge for dance auditions.
