My son decided I needed an artistic hobby so he bought me a gift certificate for art classes at a local gallery.  I signed up for the watercolor painting courses and have been painting ever since. I especially love painting real locations filled with my fictional characters.  In each painting I try to capture a moment of joy.

Jimmy The Dog

One of my closest friend's dog was in his senior years and  unable to go on their daily explorations of County Down.  I painted a picture of Jimmy The Dog at a favorite, peaceful place, Lough Shannough up in the Mourne Mountains  and then  another and another each in County Down, Northern Ireland.  The story of Jimmy The Dog took on a life of his own as the magic of each wanted to be shared.

For years, my brother and I had talked about publishing a series of greeting cards based on photos of him costumed as the fictional character Earl C. Johnson. Earl is a bigfoot researcher with a big heart and a love of making people smile. Married to Mona, they live a life of joy and simplicity, along with the excitement of investigating the occassional sasquatch sitings in Michigan.

Photography

During a very busy time of my life, I had gotten in the habit of ignoring the beauty of the world.  Once I realized this , I forced myself to take a snapshot in my mind every day of something beautiful. That 5 second task became the key to lowering my stress levels and led me into photography.  I love sharing bits of the beauty I have been lucky enough to experience in the many places I have been.
